Digital Gardening
Other than constant watering, who's playing in the garden in this summer heat? NOT ME! If you need a "flower fix", this is a good place to find it!
Use our blog to brag on your blooms (or at least the ones you had in cooler weather) by posting photos and comments. Ask questions of your fellow club members and share tips. You don't have to limit it to Daylilies...most of us garden addicts grow lots of other things as well. Between us all we have literally hundreds of years of experience (well, it's true). Let's take advantage of that and share our passion here. Most importantly, have fun!

Manure - Free
Hey Gang, while I was in Angleton this week, I saw a sign saying "Free Manure". This was at the "Pony Ride" facility located on N. Highway 35. If any of you are looking at fertilizer for a "new" bed - this would be a good ingredient. For those of you new to the club - you do not use this fertilizer around your plants because it is "too hot". It is a good ingredient to place in a bed that you are getting ready for fall or spring planting.

Prolifs
Gang - how many of you are out there looking for prolifs? Have you been inspecting the plants? I picked several off today, trimmed and put them in water. For your newbies, a prolif is a plant that grows off of the scape. It is one of two ways that you can get an exact replica of that plant. The other is by division of the clump. You cut the scape (when it starts dying and reaches the prolif) just below the prolif (about 1"). Cut the top of the scape just above the prolife (about 1"). Place the prolif in a cup/glass of water. Place it in the windowseal and watch it put on roots. Keep changing the water about everyother day. When you have sufficient roots, you then either plant in a pot or in the ground directly (preferably shade until late October). Don't forget to label. I use plastic spoons and write in paint ink (on the round part) the name of the plant. This way you will know what it is when it comes time to place in the garden.

Plumerias
Hey Milton, those blooms are beautiful. You and Art both need to sell some at our October plant sale.
Plumerias

This is my Plumeria collection. Plumerias are lots of fun to grow. I move my Plumerias to the greenhouse in November for the winter and then replant them in the garden after April 1. Moving them back and forth is lots of work because of the number of plants I have, but the reward is the blooms in Spring, Summer and Fall.
